My phone broke so I took it to Apple and they couldn’t recover the photos and they gave me no solution. It turns out the phone had a broken screen and Carly advised me where to get it fixed... “I had 500 B&W negatives taken 40 years ago that had either to be digitised or thrown out. Carly and PhotoGenie rescued me and the negatives. She coached me on what I needed to do to provide identification for each photo that was then embedded in its digital information. Then PhotoGenie did the scans promptly and well. I recently needed old slides converted to digital images for my father's funeral. I was in a hurry to find the right place to do it, and by miracle, I came across PhotoGenie which was 5 minutes away from me. To my pleasant surprise, Carly answered the phone out of normal business hours and stated that the turn around generally took 3 weeks. We needed the images in a matter of days and after understanding my position, Carly offered a turnaround of 24 hours without an additional charge. This took an enormous amount of pressure off me. Carly ended up delivering the images in less than 24 hours and did an exceptional job, ensuring the images were cleaned and colours corrected so that they could be the best quality possible. “I have photos in the cloud, on hard drives, and low res versions on my computer and phone - many syncs but not adequate true backups. I need to talk through all the cloud backup options with an expert who also knew Mac Photos infrastructure. I talked Carly through my setup + we did some screen sharing, and she was able to distil my digital overwhelm easily, into actionable steps to help me take control of the photo mess. Now I am creating proper backups from my Mac photos on storage I didn’t even realise I had, and have a better understanding of what cloud storage is worth paying for, and why, for my particular circumstances.
